How did you meet?
We met at an 80s coverband concert while both living in Arlington, VA through mutual friends! After dancing all night together, we planned a happy hour for the next week and the rest is history.
How did you choose Pharsalia for your wedding?
Faren's grandmother was born on the property 93 years ago. The area holds a special place in the Bride's family's hearts and is one of the most beautiful spots in Nelson County. The couple felt blessed that so many friends an family traveled to this secluded area of Virginia to celebrate- many guests were from California, Michigan, and more!
Tell us about your dress, shoes and other accessories!
The dress is from a small boutique in Alameda, CA. The bride and groom live in the San Francisco Bay area, and the bride's mother flew out from Virginia to dress shop. The chosen dress was one of the first tried on and it is so comfortable that it feels like yoga pants! Shoes are Badgley Mischka jeweled flats... better for walking in grass all night! A super special accessory that the bride held was a handkerchief previously owned by her Great-Grandmother.
What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
The bride's favorite detail was her veil that was handmade and handbeaded by her mother. The groom loved the wooden ring box and the fact that the ring warden didn't lose it!
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
There are so many! The couple agrees that the most fun moment was when the band played one of their favorite songs, "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba, impromptu and without ever having played it before! Whiskey Rebellion rocks!
Tell us about your food and cake!
We are foodies! At first, it was difficult to select a caterer from 3000 miles away, but Vickie at Le'toile made the decision easy- even without a tasting. We knew the food would be amazing and we were not disappointed! Vickie knew we wanted local, seasonally appropriate choices and her beautiful menu reflected just that with selections such as Polyface farm chicken and lots of fresh local vegetables. The groom particularly liked one of the hors d'oeuvres- lamb chops, he ate 11! The cake from Sweethaus also turned out to be spectacular! The bottom layer was delicious and simple vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing, while the middle layer was the Bride's favorite: Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese icing. The top layer was super fun spice cake with a salted caramel icing. Of course the couple had a slice of each! :)
Why did you choose Allegra’s Studio for your photography?
We were impressed with the quality of work shown on her website. The groom's father is a professional photographer and so we relied on his eye to narrow down the list of local photographers. Allegra came out on top! We are so glad! She rolled with our questions and requests, and also made herself available for us late into her evenings- knowing the three hour time difference made things challenging!
What's next on your calendar as a couple?
We are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things at our home in California after our awesome honeymoon! We visited the island of Crete in Greece for a week of beautiful beaches and wonderful hospitality, followed by a week in Italy exploring the countryside and eating the most amazing food!
