Andrea and Peter
Congratulations Andrea and Peter!
I like to let people know a little bit more about my couples!
How did you meet?
Peter and I met at Virginia Tech! We first met at Big Al's, an awesome little college bar, after he hobbled in on crutches. Talked the evening away and tried to link up for dog walks afterwards, but never got around to it as graduation was right around the corner. Luckily for us, I was sticking around for grad school and he had a few more classes to take. That following year we unexpectedly "re-met" at Big Al's (was it fate?!) and finally made time to go on those dog walks. :)
How did you choose the Berry Hill Resort for your wedding?
Peter and I always knew we wanted to get married in Halifax -- it's always held a special place in our hearts. We went back and forth between having a wedding at his family's house and Berry Hill, but finally decided BH had everything we needed. Fun fact - Berry Hill weddings also run in the family. Peter's older brother got married there five years ago and his sister got married there three years ago -- why break the streak?!

What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
We loved how intimate it was. COVID really messed a lot of our original visions up, but we are so glad we were able to celebrate with those nearest and dearest to us. It felt like a big party, only just not as many people! We really enjoyed getting to dedicate time and talk to each and every one of our guests but still find time to break it down on the dance floor.
What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
I think our favorite moment was having the first look with just us two (and Allegra!). All the jitters from earlier in the morning and the build up of getting ready just dissipated and turned into pure joy and excitement. After the first look we were able to relax and enjoy the ceremony and all the fun times at the reception!
Tell us about your food and cake!
During cocktail hour, Berry Hill served mini crab cake bites with remoulade, pimento cheese crostini and country ham biscuits. For dinner we chose chicken marsala over mashed potatoes and roasted green beans. Our cake was a delicious lemon cake with blueberry filling made by Connie Halsey over at Layers of Love.
Why did you choose Allegra’s Studio for your photography?
We actually came across Allegra from reaching out to another photographer. Allegra was his top recommendation as she had photographed his daughter's wedding and he loved her work. We were actually pretty picky with choosing a photographer -- Peter (groom) does photography on the side, so he really wanted someone who would capture the moments that meant the most to us. After reaching out to Allegra and seeing how she captured both the bride/groom and the guests, we instantly knew she was the one. She worked with us through the pandemic and was understanding of the constant updates we had to make.
On the day of the wedding, Allegra got glowing reviews not only from us (bride/groom), but also from our guests for how efficiently she worked. We were worried she wouldn't be there for the sparkler exit and she, on the spot, made a plan B to capture the moment. She really made our special day all the more special and would 10/10 (above and beyond) recommend.
What's next on your calendar as a couple?
We're actually working on buying a house! If all goes well, we'll close mid-November, so that will definitely be our first big event post-wedding. After that, we just plan to enjoy life as a married couple and see where things take us!
